I started this blog months ago and procrastinated on the addition of content. But there’s so much to say! I have decided to write my 1st blog post today, on the 4th of July.
Two human lifetimes ago, 56 delegates signed the Declaration of Independence, over 75% of these men were white human traffickers that held Black families hostage in death camps, tortured and forced them to work, raped the female hostage’s (including young girls). Clearly, this document was not inclusive of my ancestors.
But today and every day, we celebrate ourselves and each other and the fact that we rise regardless of past and present trauma. We celebrate Black resilience over false independence. We’re in the middle of a revolution! We’re witnessing history, a time of change and that’s what we acknowledge today.
